Plano East defeats Hebron, 5-4 (one-game series)
Michael Johnson teams with PISD
The Michael Johnson Performance Center, an athletic training facility in McKinney, has announced a partnership with the Plano ISD.
MJP will offer performance training for PISD athletes this summer at Clark Stadium.
"We are proud to include MJP as part of our summer performance program," said Gerald Brence, PISD athletic director. "We believe MJP will add significant value to the training and conditioning of our student-athletes."
MJP will offer two group sessions (middle school and high school) for three days a week.
"MJP will combine their training philosophy along with Plano coaches," said Lance Walker, MJP director of performance. "This training should allow athletes to make improvements over summer vacation and start the season on a positive note."
West's 14th annual golf tourney
The Plano West Quarterback Club hosts its 14th Annual Golf Tournament and Bunco Bash June 11.
The event, at The Tribute Golf Club, has a variety of price points with entrants paying $175 for the tournament (which includes golf, lunch and dinner) and West cluster football players paying $100. The Bunco bash and dinner is $40 per person.
Money raised from the tournament, which has a shotgun start of 1:30 p.m., and auction goes to support Wolves football.

Plano summer football camp
Plano Senior is holding three football camps this summer.
Taking place June 11-15, June 18-22 and July 9-13 (from 9 a.m.-noon each day) the camps are available for $90 per person. There is a $4 add-on for non-Plano residents.
The camps will focus on learning the Wildcats plays and traditions from the coaches themselves.

NBA player hosting hoops camp
Washington Wizards forward James Singleton, a former Dallas Maverick, is hosting the first annual James Singleton World of Basketball Camp at Integrated Athletic Development in Carrollton.
The camp, open to kids ages 8-18, runs June 4-7 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day.
"We've all been to camps where the host makes a cameo appearance, but disappears the rest of the time," Singleton said. "I'm going to be there coaching and teaching the whole time, so everybody will receive professional instruction. They will improve and gain the confidence necessary to succeed at the next level."
Singleton will have several high-level assistants.
The coaching staff is set to include Detroit Pistons forward Jason Maxiell and Deron Cherry, Jr.

West welcomes 7-on-7 SQT
On June 8, Plano West is hosting a qualifying event for the 15th annual Division I FOX Sports Southwest 7-on-7 State Championship Tournament.
The top two in the 16-team event advance to state, which is July 19-21 at Texas A&M.
West's event is one of 32 qualifiers, held on high school campuses around Texas, to determine the 64 teams in the state tournament.
Randle invited to Team USA tryout
Prestonwood Christian Academy junior Julius Randle is one of the 24 players invited to attend the 2012 USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team Training Camp this summer.
The Lions standout will venture to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs June 5-12 for camp, eyeing a spot on the 12-man roster.
One of six invitees from the Class of 2013, Randle will train under the guise of coaches Billy Donovan (Florida), Shaka Smart (Virginia Commonwealth) and Mark Few (Gonzaga), with the team's finalists set to be named following the first three or four days of camp.
The team will participate in the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, June 16-20 in Sao Sebastiao do Paraiso, Brazil.
Lone Star Self Defense opening
On Saturday, Master James Stewart will preside over the grand opening of Lone Star Self Defense (3304 Coit Road, Suite 700).
Stewart, a fourth-degree black belt, has been studying martial arts for more than 20 years, teaching a blend of Taekwondo, Hapkido, Karate, Kung Fu and Judo. His goals are to increase discipline, self-esteem, motivation and respect of others while understanding winning without fighting is best.
The grand opening runs from 1-6 p.m. Saturday.
The event will include a meet and greet, demonstration of skills, sparring match, games and a cake cutting.
The school will also hold summer camps June 18-22 and Aug. 6-10 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day at a cost of $75 per person for enrolled students and $90 for non-enrolled students.

Plano-East alumni football game
Football season may be on hiatus, but the Plano Senior-Plano East rivalry will continue at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 from Clark Stadium.
Set up by FootballLegendsofTexas.com, the Wildcats and Panthers will hold an alumni game.
Both schools are still looking for alumni that can participate as part of the cheerleaders, dance team, band or game itself. The player rosters are about half full with practices having started this week.
The organizer is attempting to recreate all facets of a high school game, down to the referees, announcers and custom made jerseys.

Dagerman named All-American
Emory University senior Ryan Dagerman, a 2008 Plano West graduate, closed his collegiate career Friday.
And he did so in style by earning first team All-America honors after tying for seventh at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships from the Mission Inn Resort in Florida.
Dagerman shot a 3-over par round of 75 on the final day to finish with a four-day score of 6-over.
With that result, the former Wolves linkster becomes just the second player in Emory history to have been a three-time All-American (Mike Lebow). Dagerman was a second-team All-American in 2010 and third team in 2011.
Dagerman, who closed the season with a new school record average of 73.0, also finished his run at Emory with a career-best average of 74.38.
Wildcat Golf Classic
The Wildcat Quarterback Club is holding its annual golf tournament June 1 to benefit Plano Senior football.
The event, at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club, has a shotgun start of 1 p.m.
The cost is $125 per player, a fee that includes 10 raffle tickets, range balls, greens fees, golf cart, dinner, awards and designated hole contests such as closest to the pin and longest drive. Sponsorships are also available.

Lions net all-district, all-state honors
Prestonwood Christian Academy baseball and softball has been honored for accomplishments on the district and, for some, state levels.
The Lions baseball team boasted a pair of TAPPS I-5A first team all-district selections in Nik Gifford and Casey Maack, who were also honorable mention selections for the all-state team. Second-team district honors were handed down to Sam Carter, Garrett Paulette, Michael Sheehy and Cameron Yates, while Tristan Metten was named honorable mention for I-5A.
The Lady Lions were in the all-district fray as well, with Michaela Pendley and Hadley Scott earning second team spots and Ashley Reynolds claiming an honorable mention nod for softball.
