The only thing that melted under pressure at the UIL State Track and Field meet last week was the bronze used to make the medal won by Justin Wilson of McKinney Boyd.

Wilson brought home the bronze in the Class 5A boys long jump, placing third with a best jump of 7.08 meters.

Tyris Jefferson of Tyler Lee won the event with a jump of 7.16 meters, while Justin Jenkins of Dickinson placed second by leaping 7.11.

Wilson's finish represented the fifth and final top three run by a McKinney ISD at the state meet and ensured each of the district's high schools came away with a medal. McKinney distance runner Meghan Shea finished second in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 800, the McKinney North 4x400 relay team finished third, and Adam Grant of McKinney placed third in the long jump.
