City begins facelift on water storage tank
Staff Reports
Work on the five million gallon ground storage tank at 3655 TW King Road began this week.
Rehabilitation work including the repainting of the interior and exterior of the TW King five million gallon ground storage tank began this week. This tank is located at 3655 TW King Road in the northwest part of the city. The contract was awarded on Dec. 6, 2011 by the City Council to MK Painting Inc. to provide the services. The contract amount for the repairs and repainting is $698,100.
The tank has been in operation since 1999 and has required little maintenance to this point. In February of 2011, the base of the tank began leaking and an underwater inspection video of the interior of the tank was conducted to determine the source of the leakage and the condition of the tank. The inspection video showed that the leakage was around the base of the stand pipe and a temporary plug was installed to stop the leakage.
