Before Colby Lowe took over the distance medley relay at the Nike Outdoor Nationals was somewhat in doubt.
Six teams still had a chance of winning the event that took place at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, NC. The Nike Outdoor Nationals ran from June 19-21 at the Irwin Belk Track located inside Aggie Stadium.
Lowe covered the final legs distance of 1,600 meters in the time of four minute, 5.8 seconds to give the Southlake Carroll Track Club the win. The relay teams time of 9:56.54 was the fastest prep time this year. It was the third fastest time ever by a high school team.
Lowe’s, an Arkansas signee, anchor leg effort gave his team a five-second margin over the second place team from Danbury (Conn.) High School which posted a time of 10:02.11. In third placed was the Trabuco Track Club from Mission Viejo, Calif. in a time of 10:03.24.
